Oxalic Acid Acid has strong reducing property and is easily oxidized to carbon dioxide and water by interacting with oxidants. The acid potassium permanganate (KMnO4) solution can be faded and reduced to 2-valent manganese ion. This reaction is used as a method for the determination of potassium permanganate concentration in quantitative analyses. Oxalic acid can also wash away the ink stains splashed on the cloth.
